The Challenge: A Week Later

Bonjour Mon ami,

Okay so i’m far from an expert at french speaking but hey, I like to try.

So it’s been a week with my Challenge. For anyone who doesn’t know what i’m talking about or who was not interested in reading my previous post, here’s what i did.

The past week I decided to spend less time using my phone, watching tv, and spending countless hours in front of my computer. Your probably thinking, this girl is crazy. Sure maybe I am , but have you realized you too could probably be obsessed with checking your phone, or spending countless hours in front of your computer and making sure you don’t miss that television show you’ve been wanting to catch, as well and missing out on other important things in life? . Ladies and gents, the first sign of this is DENIEL.

The past week I devoted myself to only 1 hour each day, of using those 3 items. Well my end result was this ; I used my computer once, my cellphone I used for only an hour each day, and television I used an hour each day (with the exception of Tuesday night, when i had to babysit and had nothing to do but watch TV, so i spent it watching the Dark Knight). I took up reading 2 books in my spare time, did alot of life thinking and came up with some story writing material of my own.

End result; I had a day spent with my uncle and his kids. Family is important no matter what. And you know what, I realized there’s so much i learned by spending time with them. I also joined the gym, and it’s been kicking my ass but its also time worth wasting. I accomplished chores, inside the house and outside =successful feeling. I realized I don’t have to watch tv or go on the Internet to learn things when I can just go outside and discover things, or learned new tasks by hand. I learned that spending time with someone in person is so much better then by using my phone to talk to them.

Seriously, there’s a whole other world out there. I recommend you turn off your phones, TV, and computers and go enjoy it.

Cheers!

The Challenge

Alright class is now in session.

With a show of, hands, likes or reblogging how many of you agree & shamefully admit to spending way to much time in front of a computer, a cell phone, or perhaps a television.

“LIKE!”

Hey folks,

Have you noticed while walking down a crowded street, the amount of people you pass, holding a phone in front of them? Okay texting while walking has become considered a skill. A dangerous skill you could get hurt while doing so. Have you tried talking to your sibling or a parent while the tv is on? and they only catch parts of what your trying to tell them? Isn’t that rude? I think so. Do you notice the amount of technology that is being presented to us in the world. Of course its a wonderful thing, but is it to wonderful that people are starting to forget the words “there’s a whole other life out there” Meaning, go outside, stop searching through someones facebook or twitter photos titled “trip of a lifetime” & wishing you were them. GET OFF YOUR ASS AND take a trip somewhere (sorry, the truth hurts), go learn something at a museum or read a book, instead of googling it. Go see a movie with friends you haven’t talked to in person for days because you can just skype them now, or text them. Put down your eBook and go to a library, get off eharmony or match.com and go socialize outside of your home. You might actually meet someone who isn’t lying about their age just to get your attention.(unlike their eharmony profile says) .

I can understand if your work requires you to use a computer or phone. But still…

Here’s your assignment. Here is what I will be doing.

I’m calling it, “The Challenge”.

My challenge for a week , and goal to achieve is to stop spending countless hours in front of the computer, or having OCD with checking my phone. I’m going to enjoy life without the computer in front of me, without my phone in hand. I’m limiting myself to only an hour a day to either, the computer, phone or TV. Phone is only for a real emergency.

Lets see after a week if this challenge will continue.

So put away your ipad, your iPhone, cellphone whatever, step away from your laptops, flat screen TV’s and go see the world, go enjoy life. LEARN SOMETHING NEW, maybe about the world, or about yourself.

Can you challenge yourself?

Class dismissed.

Cheers.
